New from Tammy

Tammy Marcelain writes -Today has not been easy for Jack. He is hurting, and not talking yet. I know that he knows what's going on around him, but that swollen tongue is keeping him from eating, drinking, talking and laughing. I hope that the swelling will decrease soon. He had his mri today, no results yet. He couldn't eat, so they put a line down his nose into his stomach and fed him pediasure, he didn't tolerate it, so they have gone ahead and started giving him iv food again. It has been so hard watching him hurt and not be able to help. I thank God for the last hour we have had, because Elaine and I started singing children's worship songs to him, after we sang one, we didn't know if we were hurting his ears or if he liked it, so we said give us the thumbs up sign if you want another song. His thumbs immediately began wiggling. So we sang, and we sang, and ....when we got to This Little Light Of Mine, he must have liked it, because we got to "all around the neighborhood I am going to let it shine" both of his arms that have splint like things on them with tubes everywhere and wires everywhere, shot up and started circling with the song. Both Elaine and I looked at him, and tears started flowing. It was like his first step. We were so excited. So we sang and sang some more. Every time we were trying to decide what to sing, he would lift his arms and start circling. So we would start this little light again. I think he likes that one best because even though his eyes are closed and he can't move alot, he can move his arms, so he feels like he is participating in the song. Praise God for that glimpse of a light at the end of the tunnel.Donnie Carroll, from church, came today and delivered well over one hundred cards and pictures, toys, and all sorts of fun stuff. We have read him many of the cards, and they have made us laugh and cry. The children have done a great job sending their greetings to Jack. By the way Jack received a stuffed bull dog from Hutton, Tyler, Zack and Joshua, and that was the animal he chose to take to surgery with him yesterday. He really likes it. You all have been so generous to us. We don't have words to express, but our hearts are overflowing with gratitude. And Aaron, Jack asked before surgery when can he go to your house to play again. So he is looking forward to being with you.Love to you all. As Jack says "MAHALO".

Is it just me or is it weird that a 6 hour surgery would cause a tongue to swell for 24 hours? Bless him! That does, indeed, sound like a miserable step to recovery!

I can just see Jack 'praising in the spirit' with This Little Light of Mine. And what a light he is being! How fitting for all of you! Make sure you make a verse: All around Children's Hospital! I'm going to let it shine. Because you have and your faith continues to shine and be a light to all of us.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know what's going on. Now is the painfully slow time of watching the pain subside. I look forward to hearing about each milestone -- and when Jack is joining in, letting his light shine!

Love to all of you!

Oh Tammy - praise God for the outpouring of love and help you are receiving. I am so thankful you have such a great family in Abilene! Gives peace to me.

Like my grandpa Kellar use to say "pray without ceasing and consider all things joy." We are joyous for the little things we've read that Jack is able to do! And we will continue our vigilant prayers! He is "this little light" and I will always picture him all 'dolled' up whenever I hear/sing that song!

Shalom - in God there is perfect peace! Love you - Cheri Casciola

Hi Jack,

This morning I had breakfast with your grandpa. It was about 5:00 in the morning and I was a little tired because I didn't get much sleep. needless to say I was a bit grumpy and I was complaining about the food they had for breakfast. Then I said to grandpa, "I guess it could be worse, we could be six years old and be sick." That and the way your grandpa looked at me made me think how silly it was for me to complain. When I heard about your troubles and how brave you must be to go through all this I felt quite humbled. Actually I felt like a real banana head. Sometimes people forget the good things they have when all is going well.

I hear that all is going to be fine with you. I really beleive that to be true because all your grandpa's friends here are cheering for you and wishing you the best. How can so many people be wrong?

Anyway you little braveheart, you keep up the good work and get well soon.

Thinking of you and wishing you the best all the way from Kyrgyzstan.

Your friends,

Bernie Larabie, Zachary (my 11 year old), Dinara (my wife) and Kunduz (pronounced koondooz) my daughter

I'm not surprised at all that Jack wanted to let his little light shine. It is in his genes! You guys are a wonderful Christian family and have always been a light to so many. And even during times of darkness, you continue to let your light shine -- maybe even a little bit brighter than before.

We continue to pray for God's blessings on all of you and continue to say "thank you" to Him for doing so.
Jack - We are so proud of you! We want you to know that we love you so much. Rob & Tammy - We love you both and our hearts continue to go out for you. Our spirits continualy cry out to the Father in intercession for you all. It is overwhelming to see all of the love, support and prayers that have been (and continue to be) lifted up for you all. There is so much intercession for Jack and that has got be bring peace because it is all in the Lord's hands (exactly where it needs to be). He will continue to hold you and carry you through this. We believe he is going to bring Jack through this victoriously. We pray for a miraculous recovery and for complete healing. We pray for strength and stability. We are asking God to remove everything else that does not belong and to make every part of Jack's head and body perfect.

We can't wait to see you later today!

"Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Love,
Michael, Karen, Lindsey & Corban

Tammy, Rob & Jack,
I've been thinking about you a lot lately (even before I heard the news about Jack). Now I know why. My thoughts & prayers are with you. I work at a children's hospital in Seattle, so I know you're in the best place to get the best care for Jack! Tammy & Rob, take care of yourselves, too. Jack will need you to be strong & healthy in the weeks to come. Love, Pam

Dear Rob and Tammy:

Oh how we are praying for you, your precious boy, and your precious kiddos back here in Abilene. I hope you can feel all the hearts that are leaning your way, holding you close. Hang in there. Rob, I have this precious image of you onstage in Scapino, wearing diving flippers, cracking up the audience, even while undergoing personal heartache. Tammy, I've seen your home, your amazing photographs, the sensitivity behind each picture, this family you've created together. I'd imagine right now being strong seems an awfully tall order. Just know I am pulling for you, and holding all of you in my heart.

Tammy, I got tickled reading about your singing This Little Light of Mine. I know that Jack has a bright light from Jesus in his heart, but I also could imagine his ET finger that I saw Wednesday morning with the shining light on the tip of his finger. If he still has that light I'm sure he gets great delight from having the perfect visual for the song you are singing. I know he didn't like that thing poked in his finger, but maybe that's one good thing he could find about it.
I continue to pray for you all.
HUGS!!
Frances
