Wikipedia: The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world.

Writing this in the Summer of 2016 so a bit has transpired in a year. Last summer my joints started swelling on my hands. Has anyone ever hurt you or someone you love and care for? The answer has to be yes, right? We all have been hurt. We have all hurt others. If you knew Beth, then you knew that she was a giver. She was a hard worker. She was redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. She was transparent. She always had a smile. She was pure joy. She loved Jesus. She loved her family.

It seems like our world has gotten really noisy this last week, month, year... This last week especially I have avoided television, lightly skimmed Facebook to be able to look past all the political and moral condemnations, but still trying to keep up with friends and family. It seems like I have this thought several times a day right now. Derek has graduated from high school and is preparing to move into the dorms towards the end of summer. Each day I think of some truth I want to remind him of.

I am not much of a news watcher. But I definitely watch enough to have seen the pictures of the 21 Christians who were slain on the Libyan beach by ISIS. Thanks to a friend, Amy, my friend Denise and I found out about a presentation called the Jim and Casper show that was brought to Abilene by Hardin Simmons University.
I had never heard of Jim and Casper before.
So who is Jim? He is a Seattle pastor that isn't fond of "religion". He is about practicing faith and love through Christ.

Those beautiful poetic words that my Grandfather would speak, his beautiful thoughts, his gratefulness, his love are no longer in living and breathing form, but in their place stand memories; memories that do not do my Gran's presence justice, however, they simply must do.

The Nuts and Bolts -
I will fight for your marriage in prayer.
Longer rant of the statement above can be found...here.
I would love for you to join me in praying for the marriages of our friends, family, church family and others you might run into (and our own marriages). You could do this in your own manner, however, I will list here some things that might be helpful.

Will you join me for praying for marriages during our 40 days of Lent. It doesn't matter if you haven't participated in Lent before or if you are a seasoned veteran. Let's use this common time to bless God's people by calling out to God on their behalf.

Lots of emotions stirring in my heart this week and last. I took a short course last week before the official semester began. The class was called Parenting and Family Skills. One of the items on my to-do list this year has been to gather all of our ducklings and take a family trip to the Southwestern Theological Seminary to see the Dead Sea Scrolls. These are a big deal. In several caves in Qumran, now known as the West Bank by the Dead Sea, hundreds of scrolls were found dating back to before Christ.
