The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be Thy name.

Thy Kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

This is my most favorite ancient prayer. Spoken by Christ. I pray this prayer most days. I also pray this prayer when I have no words of my own, or if I am in a dry place and am feeling unconnected to God. These words are a healing balm, they point me to the Greatness of God's Kingdom, the importance of forgiveness, awareness that evil is out there, God will provide, it all belongs to Him.
I have this prayer in a sticky note on my computer to look at each day. I have both the King James Version which is above and the NIV version. The King James is always my favorite to pray, maybe because that was the way I learned it. It sounds more poetic to me.
